I know everyone has some bad luck every once in awhile but this has been CRAZY! The past 2 weeks are better and all has been well but the prior 2 weeks were like I had moved to HELL HOUSE!
It started with the pump going out on my pool.. and it caused the water to spill over into my yard all day. No one can tell me why but when I got home my backyard had become a swimming pool. Water covered my yard.
Next, on Sunday night my house was hit by a huge bolt of lightening and it fried my television and computer. YES - I had surge protectors but it still got both of them. So, home owners deductable later I got a new computer and still don't have a TV. (Saving for a nice flat screen *hint-hint*) LOL
Then, on Thursday I noticed water on my front porch and assumed my son has spilled something but hours later there was still water and finally found that my hot water heater was leaking and had leaked under the closet wall and onto the porch PLUS had flooded part of my sons room. Now, I don't often check in the far corner of his room and under his bed so didn't notice that there was squeeshy water in the carpet in that part of his room. OHH SHIT that is just not good. My hot water heater was 7 years old and had a 12 year warranty. Many phone calls later GE tells me they will have someone call me in 4-5 days and go from there once they start a claim. I need to do something now so I call my insurance and start another claim. GE says I have to prove the water heater was defective and I'd have to send it to have someone inspect it and in a letter from GE days later I'm told I have to have photos of the area prior to the damage and of the water damage as it happened. (Sorry - I just didn't think to take pics while my house was getting wet - duh!!! )
So, I get a new hot water heater and my hubbie takes the old one out. I now have a new one in the hall and an old one in my kitchen and we are going to add a PVC pipe outside to drain any other water to the outside but that will take a few days to get it done.
NEXT - the next morning on Friday my husband is a volunteer fire fighter in our area and 2 of the men are killed in a house fire. We are devastated! It's the first fatality in Smith County ever. These are brothers and friends and the whole community is grieving. LOTS of work to help prepare for the Memorials which I am happy to do. (I'm part of the womens auxillary)
Tuesday hubbie leaves for a week on business. I'm alone which at times is ok.. but...the house is still in shambles from the water damage. My sons bed is in the hall and his furniture is in the living room and we've had those big fans blowing on the slab for days. My computer desk is pulled out in the middle of the room in order to get to the cables and wires since we finally got it up and running but NOT put back together.
Wednesday night my new neighbors behind me are burning brush and it's a HUGE fire. Sparks shooting 30 feet into the air and it catches a tree on fire and then my fence. This generally wouldn't have been such a big deal but after the house fire it's almost more than I can take.
On Thursday morning I wake up to find my car has been broken into and things are stolen. My stereo, all my CD's, a huge flashlight, my blue tooth for my phone and several other things. I have a little mini-breakdown and cry for a LONG TIME!!! I went outside in the morning to take my son to the doctor for an ear ache and the passenger door is open. I think "well, this is weird." Then it dawns on me what happened and I just stand there.... I came inside and cried and cried. I felt bad for my children because they never see my like that... I'm always happy and easy going.
I THINK I'VE HAD A FEW BAD DAYS HERE!!!
Isn't there a saying that says enough is enough?
The hot water heater is taken care of but I'm still waiting on the restoration company to come clean and stretch the carpet.
Well, this week has been mucho better so I'm ready for some pampering and to pamper again.
I'd love to see you soon. Just send me an email and lets make some plans.
Sweet kisses,
Serena
